Following the 2016 edition of Capacity Europe which was held in Paris, this year’s meeting was held in London from the 24th to the 26th October 2017. Just as IBC or Satshow are leading satellite events, Capacity Europe is a major annual event which brings together all the key players from within the industry to discuss market trends. This year, more than 2300 participants from over 600 companies came together at the O2 Arena to participate in conferences, meetings and exhibitions.
SONEMA was once again present at the 2017 meeting not only to strengthen our existing partner relationships, but also to monitor new technologies and strategies in order to create services which will change the landscape of connectivity in the future for our customers.
Software Defined Networks are an in-demand trend for WAN networks based on hybrid connectivity.
We can see an increasing demand for this type of service, a solution presented as a transition from static to dynamic infrastructures. SDN calls for network simplification, open source APIs and virtualisation which must meet the challenges of interoperability. With this in mind, operators have noted that MPLS and SDWAN will not act against each other but will instead become complementary solutions.
Other trends included Artificial Intelligence and Security which are also factors which need to be addressed for the new generation of networks. There is an increasing demand for « Capacity On Demand » solutions which reinforces once again the need for scalable infrastructures and experts skilled in hybrid solutions.
