From the 12th to the 13th February 2020 , Satellite operator ARABSAT organised their 12th Telecommunications Forum in Dubai.

Khaled Ahmed Balkhyour, the ARABSAT President opened the event by welcoming the participants saying: « ARABSAT will be showcasing the latest technology trends in the satellite communications sector. This forum is an excellent opportunity to present ARABSAT’s capabilities in the domain of Internet services and the latest generation of satellites which enable us to provide connectivity services in a variety of vertical markets with extended coverage of the Middle East and Africa. »

Several satellite telecommunications experts were present at the event to speak about the latest industry trends including:

  • SD-WAN: which has become fundamental for the evolution of hybrid networks in order to meet the new issues faced by businesses today: Cloud migration, application performance, Increasingly complex infrastructures and the need for flexibility.
  • Cloudification: businesses are migrating ever-increasing amounts of data and applications to the Cloud. This new format requires network development whilst defining new standards in terms of IT security.
  • Mega trends: Significant technological changes which are shaping society: digitalisation, automation, AI, IoT, robotisation, virtualisation, disintermediation, 5G etc. The impact of these changes places the satellite industry at the heart of the transformation of the telecoms sector.
